iRacing – First Dirt Track Cushion Preview

Over the last few months, iRacing already showed us a selection of Dirt related work in progress screens. Most of those teaser publications showcased car models such as the Dirt Late Model, Winged Dirt Sprint Car, Dirt World Trucks, and Dirt Street Stock car.

We already knew that the DIRT track physics, art, and track dynamics systems will all work together in real-time. This means that just as in the real world, the loose dirt that is thrown up by the tires will develop a groove and accumulate into a dirt wall. This will result in a constantly changing track, based on the real-time racing action taking place. As such, iRacing aims to produce the most realistic virtual Dirt track environment yet seen in a racing title.

One of the most noticeable track features will be the dynamic dirt cushion which moves up the track over the course of a race. Today iRacing announced that the dirt cushion is now implemented, and ready to be inspected by the iRacing Dirt beta testers. The screenshot shows us the Dirt Late model in action at the Williams Grove Speedway which will most likely be the second Dirt track in the scheduled release list.

At this time, iRacing did not yet set an official release date, but we should see the first Dirt content appear in the very near future.
