iRacing Mercedes AMG GT3 – First Look by ISR
Darin Gangi and co-host John Sabol from Inside Sim Racing have access to the iRacing Alpha versions. Recently they had the opportunity to try out the upcoming Mercedes AMG GT3 car that will become part of the popular online racing platform together with the iRacing Season 2 2016 Build. The Mercedes AMG GT3 will be eligible to race in the iRacing Blancpain Sprint and Blancpain Endurance Series.
In this “First Look” video the ISR team takes the new Mercedes AMG GT3 to the Belgian Spa-Francorchamps track where they perform a talk & drive sharing some of the details of the car. During the test drive, Darin and John also show off some of the features that will be coming to iRacing such as day-to-night transitions and flashing headlight.
Mercedes -AMG recently presented their new 2015 GT3 weapon at the Geneva Motor Show. The new FIA GT3 compliant racer features a lightweight aluminum space frame and aluminum bodywork further supported by a selection of carbon fiber parts such as the regulation bucket seats, air intakes, aerofoil rear wing, and diffuser.
Rather than re-engineering the AMG GT’s 4.0-litre Biturbo V8 engine, Mercedes -AMG decided to power the GT3 with the same and 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 that also served in the previous GT3 SLS model. The car is set to be shipped out to customer racing teams around the world by the end of 2015.
