RaceRoom – Nissan 300ZX GTO and Mustang IMSA GTO previews

The RaceRoom development team once more surprised us with some exciting news. Sector3 Studios will soon add new cars and revamped physics to the GTO class of their RaceRoom Racing Experience simulator.

For the moment, the awesome Audi Sport 90 Quattro is the only car available in the GTO class, but this is due to change. The latest preview development screenshots reveal two new GTO machines being the Nissan Motorsport 300ZX Z32 and the Ford Motor Company Mustang IMSA GTO.

Ar present, Sector3 studios did not yet announce a release date. That said, the seemingly finished state of the cars in the screenshots could indicate that the GTO class update might become available sooner than we think.

One of Nissan’s greatest success stories in racing was the Nissan 300ZX GTO. The most famous of the IMSA/GTO Nissan’s was the 650 bhp strong 300z Z32dett twin turbo prepped by the Clayton Cunningham racing team with Steve Millen (#75) and John Morten (#76) behind the wheel. In 1994, the #75 car would end up matching Nissan’s best ever result at the 24h of Le Mans with an overall 5th and a class win.

The Mustang IMSA GTO was an equally successful American racing icon winning the 1985 GTO Drivers’ championship, Daytona 24 Hours, and the Manufacturers’ championships in 1985 and ‘1986. The Mustang was powered by a naturally aspirated 5,8 litre Ford/Roush V8 engine that delivered 650 bhp.
