RaceRoom Racing Experience on Oculus Rift DK2
Betta Lines continues his “Through the Lens” Series of tests using the Oculus Rift DK2. Lately Sector3 have implemented (experimental) DK2 support in their RaceRoom Racing Experience title. Betta Lines had a brief look at the current state of the title when using the Rift, keeping in mind that R3E is still in development.
Betta Lines explains that you simply have to add “-vr” to the Launch Options (under Properties in your Steam game list). Set your VR headset as your primary display, and select 1920×1080@75Hz as your main resolution in the video options. further more he points out that you will have to turn off Motion Blur, and make sure you dial in the graphics so that you can maintain 75fps.
Keep in mind that the video does not fully represent the user experience. This video footage was recorded with a smartphone at 720p while the simulator was running at 1080p. The recording is done at 30fps while the actual game was running at 75fps.
Please note: R3E is under continuous development, and the DK2 support is experimental at this stage.
The PC running the R3E test was fitted with an i7 870, 8GB RAM and a 2GB nVidia GeForce GTX 670.
