2014 Edition of Nismo Playstation GT Academy ready to start
Nissan in partnership with Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital and Sony Computer Entertainment have announced that the popular NISMO PlayStation GT Academy 2014 will start with its online qualifying sessions using Gran Turismo 6 on the 21th of April.
After a fears battle against fellow Gran Turismo 6 drivers, the GT Academy will select its global champions from individual competitions held in Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, India, Middle East, Mexico and Thailand. By the end of the competition the finalists will be trained in a three-month Driver Development Program incorporating real driving skill challenges, a fitness challenge and a media test. From there on, the competition will ultimately lead to a driver seat in the famous Dubai 24 Hours race behind the wheel of a Nismo Nissan. The best of the best will get the opportunity to become a professional racing driver.
Up and till now, over 4 million gamers have competed for the ultimate reward. In 2008 when the first GT academy was organized and won by the now famous Lucas Ordoñez it has been proven that with the dedicated guidance of the Nissan GT Academy team, talented and motivated racing gamers can become professional racing drivers, with a successful career as a result. Former GT Academy winners have been racing in a number of international series such as the GT3 , GT4, LMP2, Formula 3,and this year’s Super GT and GP3 Series to name a few.
