Codemasters F1 22 Announcement

Electronic Arts and Codemasters have announced the official game of the 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship.

The latest edition of the official F1 game franchise, now named F1 22 will be released worldwide on July 1 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. Players who pre-ordered the Deluxe Champions Edition will have access three days earlier, on June 28.

While staying faithful to most of the F1 franchise game elements, including the My Team mode, the 10-year career mode, the two-player career option, and the online multiplayer mode, F1 22 will also introduce some brand new features.

Besides the implementation of the new F1 cars and the 2022 technical regulations, one of the most notable new features is without a doubt HTC Vive and Oculus PC VR support. Furthermore, Codemasters also introduces the new Miami venue, layout changes to the Australia and Abu Dhabi circuits, F1 Sprint events, and the F1 Life mode.

In their own words, within F1 Life Mode, players have a chance to step further into the glamourous world of F1, with a customizable hub to show off supercars, clothing, and accessories earned via gameplay, Podium Pass, and the in-game store.

We look forward to welcoming our players to the new era of Formula 1, said Lee Mather, F1 Senior Creative Director at Codemasters. Alongside the real-world changes, we have updated the physics to accommodate the new aero rules and reworked the tyre model, making the handling more true to life. With new and updated circuits, adaptive AI, ‘F1 Life’, and expanded gameplay options, there has never been a better time for players to take their seats and live the life of an F1 driver.

Race day changes allow players to customize their gameplay even more, with new ‘immersive’ and ‘broadcast’ options. Immersive mode allows players to take on risk-reward challenges while broadcast mode includes “controlled and authentic cinematics” to enhance the action.

Adaptive AI lets less-experienced players take on the challenge, with AI racers tailored to match their skill level, while accessible menus and handling also return for players who want to get into the action quickly. Refreshed practice programs offer more variety this time around too, while ‘My Team’ returns, players are now given a choice of starting budget and three entry scenarios.
