A few days ago, Studio 397 shared a teaser picture hinting at new content for the upcoming Le Mans Ultimate racing title. The developer posted a shadow screen showing what looks to be a Peugeot 9X8 Hypercar, as it competed in the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship. En so it was.

Studio 397 now posted a few gorgeous in-game screenshots of the French endurance weapon.

The Peugeot 9X8 is a Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) sports prototype racing car built by French car manufacturer Peugeot for the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). It is Peugeot’s first return to the top flight of sports car racing since 2011.

The 9X8 is a hybrid car, powered by a 2.6-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine at the rear and a 200 kW electric motor at the front. The combined power output is 680 horsepower (500 kW). The V6 engine is a development of the engine used in the Peugeot 508 TCR touring car.

One of the most distinctive features of the 9X8 is its lack of a traditional rear wing. Instead, the car uses a smaller “active aero” device that can be adjusted to optimize downforce and drag. This is a first for a top-level sports car racer. The 9X8 is a significant departure from previous Peugeot Le Mans prototypes, such as the 905 Evo and 908. It has a more aggressive and futuristic design, with a sharp nose and a long, sweeping tail. The car is also much lighter and more efficient than its predecessors.

Le Mans Ultimate is being developed by Studio 397 and Motorsport Games Inc. The game will feature (some or all) official cars and circuits of the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship WEC season, with the 24 Hours of Le Mans as its headline event.

The cars list will consist of Hypercars from Ferrari, Peugeot, Porsche, and Toyota, alongside all the cars of the 2023 full-season WEC championship. You can expect high-fidelity models of iconic tracks such as Spa-Francorchamps, Monza, Fuji, and of course the Circuit de la Sarthe.

The Le Mans Ultimate game is scheduled to become available on PC somewhere in December 2023. During 2024, publisher Motorsport Games Inc. will be evaluating if they can also bring this title to consoles.
