EA SPORTS WRC – VR Beta Gameplay Trailer

On April 30, EA Sports and Codemasters will introduce Virtual Reality support for the PC version of EA SPORTS WRC, as part of the Version 1.8.0 update. and released as a free update.

The EA SPORTS™ WRC VR Beta will be available on PC (Steam, Epic, EA App) on April 30. Check out the new EA SPORTS WRC trailer in which ERC rally driver and Codemasters game designer Jon Armstrong, takes a first look at the VR Beta gameplay.

Previous VR implementations (like those seen in DiRT Rally and DiRT Rally 2.0) were built with the help of external partners, whereas for EA SPORTS WRC, Codemasters have been developing VR in-house for the first time.

Due to the wide range of VR headsets available in the market, on top of the wide range of PC hardware specs in general, Codemasters currently could not test for all possible scenarios and configurations. This is why the implementation is released under a Beta status. Using OpenXR technology via Unreal Engine, a wide range of headsets will be compatible with EA SPORTS WRC.

EA Sports confirmed the following supported headsets at release:

  • Meta Quest 3
  • Meta Quest 2
  • Meta Quest Pro
  • Valve Index
  • Oculus Rift S
  • Oculus CV1
  • HTC Vive

The HTC Vive Cosmos, and HTC Vive Pro 2 are currently “partially supported” and the implementation will be improved in the near future. OpenXR Headsets not listed (and not on the “not supported list” below) may work but do not guarantee full functionality.
