Rennsport – Beta V1.8.5 Deployed – Two New Cars And A New Track

Rennsport - Beta Update V1.8.0 - New Features And New Car

Competition Company has deployed Beta Patch V1.8.5 for its Closed Beta Rennsport online Racing platform, adding the Fuji International Speedway, Porsche 963 LMDh, and the BMW M Hybrid V8 prototypes, rolling starts, and much more.

For all the details, check out the changelog below.

The Fuji International Speedway is a racing circuit currently owned by the Toyota Motor Corporation. The FIA Grade 1 track is situated on the base of Mount Fuji, in Oyama, Japan. The 4.563 km (2.835 miles) long track was built in the early 1960s and hosted the first Formula One race in Japan in 1976.

These days Fuji International Speedway is the chosen venue for many different disciplines such as the Super GT, Formula Nippon, Formula 4,  Porsche Carrera Cup Japan, D1 Grand Prix, GT World Challenge Asia, Japanse TCR, and of course the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The Porsche 963 is a hybrid LMDh sports prototype racing car designed by Porsche and built by Multimatic, to compete in the Hypercar and GTP (Grand Touring Prototype) classes in the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA SportsCar Championship, respectively. The 963 is Porsche’s first new prototype race car since the 919 Hybrid, which retired from competition in 2017. The 963 is designed to be more affordable than the 919 Hybrid, making it more accessible to private teams.

The 963 name draws inspiration from the Porsche 956 and Porsche 962 that raced in the 1980s, which also competed in American and European racing series. The car is powered by a 4.6-liter V8 engine with twin turbochargers, combined with an electric motor. The total system output is 500 kW (680 PS). The car weighs around 1,000 kilograms.

The BMW M Hybrid V8 LMDh premiered at the 24 Hours of Daytona (USA) in January 2023 and competed in the FIA World Endurance Championship from 2024 onwards. The car is powered by the P66/3 eight-cylinder turbo engine that delivers around 640 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, with added power from the supplementary electric drive. The LMDh regulations mandate a standardized electric motor, battery, and transmission for all competitors. The specific horsepower of the electric motor isn’t publicly available.

The combustion engine is based on the DTM unit used in the BMW M4 DTM in 2017 and 2018. During two phases of reconstruction, it underwent comprehensive adjustments to meet the stringent requirements of the LMDh hybrid drive system.
