Back in 2021, the Shenzhen CAMMUS Electronic Technology company, based in Shenzhen Nanshan China near Hong Kong, introduced a Direct Drive wheelbase, a Wheel rim, Loadcell pedals, and a Sim Racing chassis. In April of 2023, CAMMUS introduced the C5 small form-factor 5Nm DD steering wheel, in an innovative effort to reduce the size, weight, and cost of a direct drive wheel.
Now CAMMUS is back with yet another compact ( 7.5Kg / 260*150*133mm) Direct Drive wheelbase in the form of the CAMMUS LP8. This new DD wheelbase is built around a servo motor that delivers up to 8Nm of torque. The motor is encased in a uniquely shaped metal housing that features an active cooling fan in the rear.
The unit is fitted with a quick-release that has a 70mm bolt pattern, making it suitable to fit a wide range of steering wheels. The wheelbase is powered by a 36V/6A power supply, and connects to the PC via a single USB cable.
