Amazing scratch build Racing Simulator rig by Matthijs van der Plaats
Dutch Sim Racer Matthijs van der Plaats send us a mail showing us his home designed Sim Racing Simulator Rig. We could not resist sharing this beauty with all of you.
Back in October 2014 Matthijs and his brother Robert-rein van der Plaats started to create this beautifully crafted scratch build high-quality Sim Racing Rig. After Robert dedicated a solid 40 hours of his spare time to the rig build, they now just about finished the project.
It’s hard to believe, but the brothers designed this racing rig without the aid of a real blueprint. The racing rig is fully adjustable featuring a tiltable seat mechanism, adjustable steering column, adjustable pedal plate, mouse pad platform, movable keyboard holder, and a monitor platform for a big size single screen setup.
For that extra finished look, the tubing is powder coated in metallic gray and black colors. The final product is fitted with a trendy Black/Blue racing seat, Thrustmaster Ferrari GTE Wheel Force Feedback wheel and Fanatec Clubsport Pedals V2.
While this home build creation is most likely to stay “a one of a kind”, it is safe to say that should this racing rig ever become commercially available, it would be an instant success. This is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and functional sim racing rigs we have ever seen.
If all goes well, this DIY rig build will be featured in the upcoming episode of the “This Week Inside Sim Racing” live show. (October 14th, 2015) by Inside Sim Racing.
Congratulations to Matthijs and Robert. An awesome job indeed!
If you have any questions regarding the details or the build of this rig, just leave your feedback in the comment section. Matthijs will gladly answer them.
