Assetto Corsa Console Announcement Trailer
Kunos Simulazioni and 505 Games have published the official Assetto Corsa Console announcement trailer.
April 22 of this year, the Italian development house will bring their popular PC racing Simulator to the PS4 and Xbox One. It is safe to say that AC is one of the most anticipated racing games to appear on the latest generation console platforms.
You can Pre-order Assetto Corsa now and get access to the Performance Pack featuring access to 3 exclusive cars. Head over to http://console.assettocorsa.net/
The announcement trailer also unveils the breathtaking Ferrari FXX-K that will become the box art of the Assetto Corsa Console retail version. The PC version of the Assetto Corsa simulator has been in development for over three years and is still receiving a healthy batch of updates and content packs. From what we can read, the console versions will feature all the currently released dream packs and extras. The Assetto Corsa retail version for the PS4 and Xbox one will feature over 100 car models which is substantially more than the current list of cars available in the PC version.
When Kunos Simulazioni announced that they would bring the title to the consoles, many fans were worried that this port could result in a watered-down version of the original product. Marco Massarutto has now confirmed that the PS4 and Xbox One physics models are identical to the PC version.
Marco Massarutto, co-founder and executive manager of Kunos Simulazioni said: We know that the PC version of AC has a very good reputation, so we believe that if we do something different now on console, we are going to disappoint a lot of people.
The first thing we wrote on console was the physics, in order to be 100 percent sure that we’ve been able to create the same feeling that we have on PC.
We had to completely rebuild the graphics engine and also the physics engine to have it working in multi-thread, in order to use all the cores of the two consoles. We personally drive a lot of the street cars that are included in the game, and working directly with car manufacturers we’ve been able to create a very good suspension and tyre model.
Also interesting to know is that the PS4 version of Assetto Corsa is confirmed to run at 1080p with a framerate that is capped at 60fps. However, the game specs in which the Xbox one will run have not been revealed at this time.
Assetto Corsa is ready to go head to head with the big guns such as Gran Turismo 6, Forza Motorsport 6, and Project CARS. AC promises to become the most realistic racing simulator available for the consoles. If so, it will be interesting to see how Gran Turismo Sport, Project CARS 2 and Forza motorsport 7 will counter this.
