In honor of the 10th anniversary of the Dream Pack DLC for the original Assetto Corsa, Kunos Simulazioni and 505 Games have shared the first in-game screenshots of the upcoming Nürburgring-Nordschleife for the Assetto Corsa EVO version for the PC.
Kunos Simulazioni will introduce an open world that faithfully recreates the iconic Eifel region surrounding the legendary Nürburgring, also known as the Green Hell. This area will progressively expand to eventually cover 1600 square kilometers, all laser-scanned and recreated using innovative terrain technology developed by KUNOS. The full open world will be released in stages, along with new features and content.
Players will have the unique opportunity to interact with local businesses, rent cars, and upgrade vehicles with aftermarket parts.
At the time of writing, no exact release date is known.
The Nürburgring Nordschleife, also known as the Nürburgring North Loop or simply the Nordschleife, is a 20.832 km-long (12.944 mi) motorsports circuit located in the Eifel mountains region of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is part of the Nürburgring complex, which also includes a shorter Grand Prix circuit. The Nordschleife is known for its challenging layout, with 73 corners and a significant elevation change. It is widely considered to be one of the most demanding and dangerous race tracks in the world.
The Nordschleife was originally built in the 1920s as a public road, but it was soon converted into a race track. It has hosted a variety of motorsport events over the years, including the Formula One German Grand Prix from 1951 to 1976. The Nordschleife is also a popular destination for tourist drives, and it is estimated that over 200,000 vehicles lap the track each year.
The Nordschleife is known for its nickname, “The Green Hell”, which is a reference to its challenging layout, dense forests, and unpredictable weather conditions. The track is also known for its long straights, such as the Döttinger Höhe and the Pflanzgarten, which allow cars to reach extremely high speeds. Drivers who can master the track can experience a unique thrill that is not found on any other circuit in the world.
