Assetto Corsa Ferrari F138 Introduction
There seems no stopping the Kunos Simulazioni and 505 Games release announcements. If there are two automotive brands out there that can be labeled “hard to license” within the gaming industry, it must be Porsche and Ferrari. When last month, Kunos Simulazioni announced that the German Porsche brand would be coming to Assetto Corsa, it hit the sim racing scene as a bombshell.
Shortly after, the Italian developer announced the “Red Pack” DLC package that will include seven legendary Italian sports cars and the Austrian RedBull Ring circuit. Another bombshell was dropped when it was confirmed that the Ferrari SF15-T Formula One car would be one of the seven cars in the pack. Since then, also the Lamborghini Aventador SV and the iconic Maserati 250F 6C were confirmed as part of the DLC.
Now, Kunos Simulazioni confirmed the fourth car model to be included in the Assetto Corsa Red Pack. Again it is a model that will please many Assetto Corsa fans out there.
Kunos Simulazioni is proud to introduce the Ferrari F138 F1 car as driven by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa in the 2013 Formula One Championship. The Ferrari F138 is the second Ferrari modern Grand Prix car to be included in the Assetto Corsa racing simulator and the third Grand Prix car to be featured in the Red Pack if we include the historic Maserati 250F.
The Ferrari F138 F1 was designed by Nicholas Tombazis and Pat Fry as Ferrari’s 2013 entree in the Formula One Championship. The name was a combination of the competition year and the number of cylinders, marking it was the last of the V8 powered Ferrari F1 engines. The 2013 F1 effort was powered by the Ferrari Type 056 2.4 liter V8 engine capable of 18.000 rpm, resulting in that awesome F1 sound we used to hear before the introduction of the muffled hairdryer sounds of the modern turbo F1 engines.
To introduce the Assetto Corsa Ferrari F138, Kunos Simulazioni published a video trailer showing us the car while doing a lap at the laser scanned Silverstone GP track. Coincidently the venue for this weekend’s 2016 British Grand Prix.
That leaves us with three more Red Pack cars to be revealed. We are more than curious to see what final surprises Kunos has in store for us.
Assetto Corsa is already available for the PC (Steam) and will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One console on August 26th in Europe and August 30th in North America.
The Red Pack DLC will be available to purchase July 14th on Steam and will be coming to the home consoles when the AC Console versions are released.
