Assetto Corsa – Lake Louise 2.0 Preview
Lucas is hard at work at a new version of his epic scratch build Lake Louise track for Assetto Corsa.
Lake Louise is a 22.8-kilometer uphill track, featuring no less than 79 corners and 11 hairpins for a spectacular drive. The road is based loosely on the real Lake Louise in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. It was created to be a hybrid between the Nordschleife and a hill climb track. There are many extremely fast and dangerous sections, and hardly any place to take a breather.
The first 23km of the road is free to play while the extended length highway and Crowsnest road sections are only available after a donation. While we usually do not support payware mods, the Lake Louise 2.0 track is developed via a “Pay whatever you want!” system making it in essence, a donation-funded project.
The V.20 of the track is currently in beta test and as mentioned only available for donators. However, therealPaulaD supplied us with a set of cool videos, to let us all enjoy the progress of the track development.
Version 2 features:
Updated layout of the original loop, now 23.1km with 10 new corners at the end of the lap
Reduced excessive slopes on certain sections of the track to enhance realism
Additional signs and guard rails
Slightly reduced road width for the mountain sections to give the road more varied feel
New road textures to reflect different pavement conditions
More view points and pull outs for more realism and places to wait for friends in multiplayer
Tweaked jumps after the avalanche tunnel to make them very slightly more controllable
Tweaked around 10 of the corners to make them more fun and more realistic looking
New buildings and animated flags along the road to enhance realism
New pitlane now located by the hotel, 29 pit and start spots
New lake side bypass road enabling a 7km loop layout for racing around the lake
Tweaked road lip height and slope to reduce excess pulling of the cars to road shoulder
Version 2 donate version additional layouts:
Highway loop – 19 km long
From the hotel start point, a twisty 6 km section through the valley to the Trans Canada highway. Then a 4.5 km long section on the highway. On this highway section you’ll drive through a metal bridge, onto a slight kink (a slight lift is required in the fastest super cars at just below 300 km/h), onto a down slope 2 km long straight where you’ll be able to top out almost any car. After exiting the highway, a 9 km section of moderately twisty road on the mountain side, through avalanche tunnels, a curved suspension bridge, a 270 degree corner, some tricky medium corners and jumps, then finishing and connecting at Lake Annette of the original loop
Crowsnest road – 9.3 km
A narrow dual direction mountain road with no center line. Starting at the hotel, you drive up 6 hairpins, lots of elevation changes and blind corners. At the top of the mountain is a view point over looking Lake Louise and the hotel. From there you drive through two short tunnels onto the other side of the mountain. Lots of twisty mountain side corners, with specially designed bumps and cambers and 3 major jumps. Finishing with 2 tight hairpins and connecting at Lake Annette of the original loop
