Assetto Corsa – Oculus Rift DK2 test
Da-Zu performed a little test trying out the Assetto Corsa Ferrari 458 GT2 on the old Monza 1966 track, using the Oculus Rift DK Virtual Reality headset. After the test, Da-Zu’s stated he would never go back to racing a simulator on a regular monitor setup.
While we at bsimracing are not yet convinced that the VR headsets will blow away conventional screens any time soon, it does show that more and more people are getting interested in the virtual Reality hardware when it comes to Sim Racing.
The Oculus Rift is an upcoming virtual reality head-mounted display, being developed by Oculus VR. It is supposed to be available in April 2015. At the moment, the headset is still under development, but the company already has the Development version on sale. The Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 is the latest development kit for the Oculus Rift with a low-persistence OLED display and low-latency positional head tracking. It is being sold for $350.00.
