Assetto Corsa – URD 1999 Mercedes-Benz CLR LMGTP previews
The UnitedRacingDesign modding group (URD) who you might know from their payware mods are working on a new model that will become available for free.
Team member Sandrox had some time to spare and continued work on the 1999 Mercedes-Benz CLR LMGTP that will be released for both Assetto Corsa and rFactor 2. In the included WIP shots, we can already admire the car in-game.
The Mercedes-Benz CLR LMGTP became real famous when Mark Webber flipped his car over in the run-up to the Indianapolis corner at Le Mans and later on once more flipped the replacement car on the Mulsanne Straight at a speed well over 340 km/h.
The 1999 CLR LMGTP was built around a carbon-fibre monocoque and double-wishbone suspension. The car was powered by a 5.7 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine that delivered 600 bhp. All this power was transferred to the rear wheels through a six-speed XTrac gearbox.
