Assetto Corsa – Virtual vs Reality by Saabkyle04
A few weeks ago, YouTube car reviewer Saabkyle04 was invited by Kunos Simulazioni to attend the media event for the console versions of Assetto Corsa.
The launch event was held at the Kunos Simulazioni headquarters that is situated on the Autodromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi near Rome in Italy. During the event,Kunos Simulazioni partnered up with RSREvens which is a company that normally organizes sportscar and supercar Track Day sessions on the infamous Nurburgring Nordschleife, Portimao Circuit, and the iconic Belgian Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
Because of this partnership, the event invitees were able to take a couple of interesting cars out on the Vallelunga racetrack and experience the excitement of driving a fast car on a circuit. Saabkyle04 thought that this was the perfect opportunity to compare virtual racing to reality racing. He tried to compare the track behavior and physics of the real machines to the virtual versions in Assetto Corsa. In his own words, “it’s amazing how the technology nowadays has allowed game designers to create such a realistic experience!”
Furthermore, Saabkyle04 also interviews Kunos Simulazioni’s physics wizard Aristotelis Vasilakos and lead track designer Simone Trevisiol who share some ‘behind the scenes’ info about the work that goes into building a modern racing simulator.
