Greetings Everyone!
It has been a long wait – seven months since our last public update to Automobilista 2 way back in April. Not such a long time in game development especially for a game in its fourth year of shelf life, but certainly a period that has felt longer for those of you waiting for V1.6 to drop; it certainly felt longer for those of us working on it, sometimes for days and nights on end!
All the waiting is soon to be over as the work is likewise just about to conclude, with the team currently performing the final touches for the V1.6 update to Automobilista 2. As they do, I´ll be sharing some of the great news associated with this milestone update, along with some exciting previews and important information to be aware of before the update drops.
There is a lot to cover still so instead of tiring everyone´s eyesight (including my own) packing everything into a single overlong article, we are going to do this a little differently by breaking it down in parts over the course of the next few days before release time.
In this part, we are going to cover the new cars that are incoming to the sim with the V1.6 update – two car-centric DLC packs featuring nine models between them, four new free base game cars, one upgraded version of an existing car, and an alternative version of an existing car. Let´s get to them!
Lamborghini Dream Pack PT1
Beginning with the super-exciting announcement of a new licensing partnership with iconic Italian manufacturer Automobili Lamborghini, which will see at least eight models from the legendary car maker coming to Automobilista 2, split into two DLCs of four models each.
Two of the models are no-brainers in the context of our ongoing push to feature as many cars from the 2024 IMSA Sportscar season as we can – first and foremost, the beautiful Lamborghini SC63.
The SC63 made its debut in both IMSA and the Le Mans 24h this year, running in the GTP and LMDh classes respectively, experiencing some growing pains in this first season but already winning the hearts of fans with its stunning looks and beautiful roar.
The latest iteration of the now classic Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 likewise could not go amiss, bringing its distinct sharp angular lines to the GT3 Gen2 / GTD class:
The third model in this Dream Pack is the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, which is run in the namesake Lamborghini Super Trofeo series in America, Europe, and Asia.
Albeit very similar to the GT3 Huracán, the Super Trofeo delivers more power from its V10 engine (612hp vs 580hp by the GT3 EVO) but for less overall downforce from the bodywork running on narrower tires, making it for what is actually a quite different and very interesting driving experience.
Finally, for the fourth car in the pack, you might follow the Lamborghini motto by expecting the unexpected – the 2014 Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, an open-top variant of the 2013 Veneno, with its mighty V12 delivering 740 HP through its AWD driveline. This real-life Batmobile also produces tons of downforce and is just the type of car one would dream of taking to the Nordschleife for a truly hair-raising experience. The Veneno Roadster joins the Hypercars class, one of the most improved classes in V1.6 in every possible way.
The Lamborghini Dream Pack is estimated to sell for US$ 9.99 / 9.99€, or equivalent conversion to your local currency on Steam.
Endurance Pack PT2
The follow-up to Pt1 released on New Year´s Eve lof 2023, Pt2 further boosts the endurance car roster in AMS2 with one new LMDh / GTP, two LMP2, and two GT3 / GTD cars.
Besides the Alpine A424 already previewed in the second V1.6 Dev Update and the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo as previewed in the first V1.6 Dev Update, Endurance Pack Pt2 also features the two LMP2 prototypes Oreca 07 and Ligier JS P217:
The French prototypes come in two generations of LMP2 rules, one with the Gibson V8 that equips both running under the restrictions mandated by the rules (525hp as per 2024 IMSA regulations), while Gen1 features the same prototypes running unrestricted Gibson V8s pulling over 600 HP.
Completing the pack, the Corvette Z06 GT3.R as the seventh contestant in our GT3 Gen2 class:
The Endurance Pack Pt2 is estimated to sell for US$ 9.99 / 9.99€, or equivalent conversion to your local currency on Steam.
The Freebies
Besides the Audi R8 LMS GT3 joining the GT3 Gen1 class and the Audi Quattro V8 that joins the Group A class as previewed in the V1.6 Pt1 Dev Update, two more models are being added as free base game content – the Ligier JS P320, joining the P1 Gen2 Class:
The Audi R8 LMS GT4, becoming the seventh contestant in the GT4 class:
An alternative version of the Corvette C3.R with an open top added as an extra contestant along with its closed top brother in GT Classics class:
