A week ago, Reiza Studios officially announced a new project in collaboration with Volkswagen Brasil and Acelerados bringing the VW TSI Cup by Acelerados to the Automobilista 2 racing simulator.
Acelerados is an internet-born TV show dedicated to cars and driving in the style of the classic Top Gear. Acelerados and Volkswagen Brazil came up with the idea for a game that realistically reproduced the experience the presenters have on the show and give people the chance to do their own hot laps with some of the VW models currently available in the Brazilian market. Furthermore, the project will also be the basis of a new official VW E-Sports competition.
The game takes form as a free Automobilista 2 demo including the VW Polo and the Virtus sedan variant. The car will come in two specs, being the 1.0 TSI and the 1.4 GTS. Both virtual car models were developed in full collaboration with the Volkswagen engineers and the Acelerados TV show hosts.
Recently, the Acelerados team visited the Volkswagen Brasil factory in São Bernardo do Campo, to talk to José Carlos Pavone, who is responsible for the brand’s design in Brazil. He explains how the Polo and Virtus were designed with the TSI Cup in mind.
The second half of the video features an interview with Reiza Studios founder Renato Simioni, in which he talks about the development of the VW Polo and Virtus sedan for Automobilista 2, and also shares some work in progress footage of the cars in-game.
