The CTDP team did not find the time to convert the Bahrain International Circuit to rFactor2, and decided to contact the talented McNolo to see if he was interested in bringing the track to rF2. He agreed, and started work.
After having a little debacle with Tim Wheatley on the rFactor Forum, McNolo who you might also know as Mandeglor stated that he would stop all work on the Bahrain GP circuit track for Image Space incorporated rFactor 2.
To the delight of the fans, McNolo decided to continue to work on the track because he did not wanted to disappoint the fans and CTDP. Utilising the added features in rFactor 2, McNolo improved the track and objects significantly, and included multiple layouts of the venue. A lot of hard work went into this project, and the result speaks for itself.
In the readme file McNolo points out that a few small issues exist at the time of release. The Marshal’s flags are working correctly when using the track in offline mode. However, this is not the case in online mode. For now this issue is generated by a bug in the game engine, and will probably be addressed when ISI updates the game engine. Further more McNolo decided not to create RealRoad presets because the track is washed by sand on a daily basis, and therefore loses grip after a race or session.
The Bahrain International Circuit opened in 2004 and is used for a variety of Motorsports events. The track is most famous for its annual Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix, but has also hosted many other forms of racing events like the FIA GT Series,Australian V8 Supercars and many endurance races.
