BavarianSimTec – Alpha Steering Wheel

German Sim Racing Peripheral manufacturer BavarianSimTec has introduced the followup to their popular Omega ONE and the Omega PRO sim racing steering wheels.

The BavarianSimTec Alpha is a 295mm diameter lightweight Formula/GT wheel crafted around a black anodized 6061 aluminum chassis fitted with anti-static silicone rubber handles. The wheel rim features 12 illuminated RGB tactile push buttons, 3 Front Rotary Encoders with AdaptiveBeamTec illumination, 2x high detent thumb encoders, and 2 7-Way-Switches. Furthermore, the front plate houses 12 programmable REV LEDs, and 2×3 programmable Flag LEDs compatible with SimHub.

The rear of the standard version, features 2 aluminum lightweight magnetic shifters, while the Advanced version of the wheel adds a Dual Clutch system.

On the electronics side of things, BavarianSimtec introduces AdaptiveBeamTec and Multi-link selector features. Acting as a virtual driving assistant, AdaptiveBeamTec is designed to automatically adjust traction control and ABS settings based on the specific car being simulated and the current driving conditions.

AdaptiveBeamTec:

• Dynamic Adjustment: AdaptiveBeamTec constantly analyzes factors such as road conditions (dry, wet), vehicle type, and driving style to optimize traction control and ABS intervention.
• Intuitive Feedback: The steering wheel provides visual feedback through color-coded lights to indicate the current settings: yellow for dry conditions, blue for wet, and green for the active settings.
• Enhanced Driving Experience: By automatically adapting to different situations, AdaptiveBeamTec contributes to a more realistic and safer simulated driving experience.

The Multi-Link-Selector utilizes the computing power of the Alpha to revolutionize controls. You can use the central encoder to select a mode and witness the magic of adaptive inputs, visualized by bright LEDs.

Multi-link selector:

• You can push down and twist the Encoder 1 to switch between the 8 different modes.
• Twist the Encoder to change the value of the current selected mode.
• Rotate the thumb encoder 2 to change a second alternative value of the selected mode.
