Sony Pictures takes us behind the scenes of the upcoming Gran Turismo movie, showing us how they capture real racing footage at high speed using the Sony VENICE 2 Rialto 2 Extension System.
The Sony VENICE 2 is a high-end compact and lightweight digital cinema camera featuring a full-frame image sensor of up to 8K sensor with a resolution of 8192 x 4320 pixels, offering two base ISO sensitivities: 800 ISO and 3200 ISO. The camera has high frame rate recording capabilities, up to 120fps at 4K and 90fps at 6K. The versatile Sony VENICE 2 is a popular choice among cinematographers for its high image quality, wide dynamic range, and versatile shooting capabilities.
In a new video, we follow Director Neill Blomkamp, Director of Photography Jacques Jouffret ASC, and the rest of the crew to see how they captured the action to bring the visceral feeling of racing to audiences.
The Gran Turismo movie is based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough’s journey from being a racing gamer to becoming a professional racing driver. The GT movie is produced by Columbia Pictures, PlayStation Productions, Trigger Street Productions, and 2.0 Entertainment. Written by Jason Hall, and directed by Neill Blomkamp who you may know from blockbusters such as District 9, Elysium, and Chappie. The cast list features famous names such as David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Archie Madekwe, Darren Barnet, Geri Halliwell Horner, and Djimon Hounsou.
Gran Turismo the movie, is scheduled to be released exclusively in theaters on August 11, 2023.
