Project CARS welcomes Bentley Motors
Two very interesting race cars will be added to the Slightly Mad Studios Project CARS line up. The 2003 Bentley Motors Speed 8 LMGTP prototype and the Bentley-Continental-GT3-3. In essence these are the two most recent race cars Bentley used in competition. However, there is a 10 year gap between the two projects.
After 73-year absence in racing, the Bentley Speed 8 LMGTP designed by Peter Elleray won the famous “24 hours of Le Mans” in 2003. The car is powered by a 4.0 litre 90-degree V8 twin-turbo engine connected to a Xtrac 6-speed sequential gearbox.
Aside from the endurance monster, the second Bentley to appear in Project Cars is very different machine. Bentley announced that they would build a racing version of the Continental GT V8 coupe in 2012. In 2013 the car that was now a FIA homologated Bentley Continental-GT3 was shown to the public at the Goodwood Festival of speed. The car will run its first full racing season in the 2014 FIA Blancpain Series. Bentley is building the racer as a customer GT3 car, so expect the car to pop up in various sports car series arround the world.
Project CARS is a game developed by Slightly Mad Studio (creator of Shift series and GTR). As this project is still in development, all seen footage is pre-alpha. This project is funded by SMS under World Mass Development. WMD is a platform that let the community join the project as investors and tester.
