Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps Coming To Gran Turismo Sport

Gran Turismo Sport already contains a good number of popular circuits in its track portfolio, yet a famous, and one of the most requested tracks was still missing. Spa-Francorchamps which is arguably one of the most beautiful tracks in the world did not yet make it into GT sport due to some long-running licensing problems.

The licensing issues now seem resolved, as, during the recent GT Sport World Tour New York Event, Polyphony Digital confirmed that the iconic Belgian Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps will be coming to Gran Turismo Sport. The official Gran Turismo media channel published a video of  NYC GT Championship Manufacturer Series champ Cody Latkovsk doing a Hot Lap around the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps circuit, giving us the first glimpse of the virtual racing venue.

While not officially confirmed, rumors go that the track might be released as soon as next week as part of the upcoming GT Sport update which will also include a wet weather circuit and five new cars.

The legendary Belgian Spa Francorchamps is a racing venue situated smack in the middle of the Belgian Ardennes forests. The Spa Francorchamps circuit hosted its first F1 Grand Prix in 1925. The original 14.9 racing circuit made up of public roads was notoriously dangerous.

The present version of the circuit is 7.004 km (4.352 mi) long and with its 20 turns and high-speed straight’s the track is the favorite of many racing drivers and Motorsports fans all over the world. The circuit is the home of the Belgian Formula One Grand Prix, WEC 1000 km of Spa and the famous Total 24 hours of Spa.

The most notorious set of corners are without a doubt the sweeping Eau Rouge/Raidillon combination. This steeply uphill high-speed corner section is what many drivers call the ultimate rush when racing on the track. The Kemmel straight is one of the longest full-throttle sections in the Formula One championship.
