Endurance Series rFactor 2 Strategy Plan
EnduRacers Modding Team confirmed that work has started bringing their popular Endurance Series mod to rFactor 2. The first release will be the Flat6 GT3 (Porsche GT3) car and will be presented as a single series stand-alone mod.
Later on, the Enduracers will start releasing the rFactor 2 Endurance Series content in batches. This way the modding team will have the opportunity to progressively get acquainted with the rFactor 2 workflow. This means that not all features will be implemented from day one. Features such as Turbo related physics will be created during the development of the mod.
Besides the already existing ES models, the team is also working on a brand new model for the Series. The Aston Martin V8 Vantage will become part of the rF2 Endurance Series. The included screenshot shows us the (work in progress) Signatech-Alpine LMP2 and Aston Martin V8 Vantage in-game.
Planned content:
- LMP2 – Oreca 03 (Specs to be announced later)
- LMP2 – Zytek (Specs to be announced later)
- GTE – Aston Martin V8 Vantage (new model)
- GTE – BMW M3 E92
- GTE – Corvette C6R (courtesy of ISI)
- GTE – Ferrari F430 GT (using GTE rules physics)
- GTE – Porsche 997 RSR (using GTE rules physics)
- GTC – Flat6 GT3
The mod will initially be released with the old models such as the Ferrari F430 and the Porsche 997 with physics based on the GTE regulations. After the initial release, the LMP2 class cars (lists to be announced in the future) and newer GTE class cars will replace the F430 and the 997 RSR.
As far as LMP1 cars are concerned, the modding team have not yet decided which cars to build. Because of the workload involved in creating the core rF2 mod, the LMP1 development will be on hold until a later date. The Enduracers also explained that at this time it will not be possible to develop the new generation LMP1 cars, due to the fact that at this time the rFactor 2 platform is not able to simulate the needed Hybrid engines technology.
The older Endurance Series GT1 cars will not be ported to the rF2 platform. However, the GT1 category will return to the mod at some stage during the development by means of new models, or updated older content.
At this time, there is no rFactor 2 Endurance Series mod release date set.
