First iRacing Rallycross VW Beetle GRC Video Footage
Back in June, iRacing announced that the Volkswagen Beetle GRC car will be coming to the Online Racing Service in the fall of 2017.
Now iRacing posted a sneak peek video showing us an iRacing staff member testing the development version of the iRacing Volkswagen Beetle GRC at the Daytona track. Keep in mind that this footage shows a work in progress.
After they already confirmed the Ford Fiesta WRX, the Volkswagen Beetle GRC is the second car model announced as part of the upcoming Rallycross content for iRacing. In order to develop the virtual model as authentic as possible, the iRacing development team called upon the help of ex-Formula One, NASCAR driver, and 2015/2016 GRC Champion Scott Speed.
The Volkswagen Beetle GRC is powered by a four-cylinder 2-liter turbocharged engine that delivers a massive 560 hp. The power is transferred to all four wheels over a six-speed sequential racing gearbox which is transversely mounted. The car can hit 0–100 kph in approx. 2.2 seconds and can reach speeds up to approx. 200 kph.
