Gran Turismo Sport – A Polyphony Digital Studio Tour
Studio Founder and Gran Turismo Creator Kazunori Yamauchi takes us on a guided tour around the Polyphony Digital Studio in Tokyo, Japan. Kazunori talks about his staff, their journey, and the future of the Gran Turismo franchise. As a bonus, he takes us to his personal office and plays the closed Beta theme on his keyboard.
Polyphony Digital is an internal video game development studio of Sony Interactive Entertainment, part of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios. Originally a development group within Sony Computer Entertainment known as Polys Entertainment, after the initial success of the first Gran Turismo release in Japan, they were granted greater autonomy and their name changed to Polyphony Digital.
Gran Turismo Sport will be a new iteration of the world-renown racing simulation franchise. The game is currently in development as a VR-compatible racing game and will be the first console racing title to feature online competitions sanctioned by the FIA (Federation International Automobile). The game will feature +-140 premium cars and 19 locations featuring 27 layouts. Gran Turismo Sport was first scheduled to be released late 2016 but was later on delayed to ensure the game’s quality.
Gran Turismo Sport will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 4 later this year.
