Gran Turismo Sport Announcement Trailer
During the Sony Paris Games Week press conference, Jim Ryan, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, and Kazunori Yamauchi, president of Polyphony Digital, announced Gran Turismo Sport for PlayStation 4.
For the moment, not a lot of details are known about Gran Turismo Sport. but the press releases share the following:
Gran Turismo Sport will be a new iteration od the world-renown racing simulation franchise. The game is currently in development as a VR-compatible racing game. The beta is scheduled to be available early 2016 while the full game should be released later that year.
In Gran Turismo Sport, there will be two FIA online championships running simultaneously. In the Nations Cup, players will be able represent their home country. Whilst in the Manufacturers Cup, players will be driving on behalf of their favorite car manufacturer.
Players will not only be able to race as drivers themselves, they’ll also be able to root for their home country or their favorite manufacturers teams.
The winner of the championship will be awarded in the same manner as real life motorsports champions, at the FIA prize giving ceremony. This will be a historic moment, the first time a video game will officially be recognized as part of the real motoring world.
The graphics, physics engine and audio are all going to improve significantly,” Yamauchi said of the PS4. “But our ambition is much greater than that. The vision is to invoke the rebirth of motorsports.
