Back in May, Polyphony Digital and Sony Entertainment published the first official trailer for the upcoming Gran Turismo movie. Now that the August 11 release date is getting closer, Sony Pictures shared a new trailer, showcasing some more scenes of the upcoming featured film.
If you’re a fan of racing games or just looking for a good coming-of-age story, then the Gran Turismo movie is definitely worth checking out.
The Gran Turismo movie is based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough’s journey from being a racing gamer to becoming a professional racing driver. For most sim racers out there, this story will need no further explanation. For those in doubt, look up the Nissan and Gran Turismo GT Academy history.
In 2018, after five years of work, the initial production of the Gran Turismo movie was scrapped and went back into development in May 2022, wrapping up all filming by December of the same year.
The GT movie is produced by Columbia Pictures, PlayStation Productions, Trigger Street Productions, and 2.0 Entertainment. Written by Jason Hall, and directed by Neill Blomkamp who you may know from blockbusters such as District 9, Elysium, and Chappie. The cast list features famous names such as David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Archie Madekwe, Darren Barnet, Geri Halliwell Horner, and Djimon Hounsou.
