In-Depth Look at the iRacing McLaren MP4-30
Back in December 2015, iRacing released their virtual version of the McLaren-Honda MP4-30 that is used as the weapon of choice in the 2016 iRacing World Championship Grand Prix Series.
The new McLaren replaces the older iRacing Grand Prix Series Williams FW31 that is in-game since 2010. But there is more to it than that. The virtual McLaren-Honda MP4-30 is the first car in iRacing to include a fully functional F1 Energy Recovery System (ERS) and Drag Reduction System (DRS) system.
In the latest iRacing.TV video, one of iRacing’s Vehicle Dynamicist Chris Lerch gives us a short introduction explaining some of the features of the virtual F1 car and talks about the advantages the complex ERS and DRS systems can bring to the iRacer.
To provide you with some more detailed information, iRacing has shared a McLaren-Honda MP4-3 setup guide for you to download. This user guide will explain you some of the key setup parameters of the McLaren MP4-30 covering the Aerodynamics, Chassis, Dampers and Inerters, Power Unit, Differential and the Tires.
