Inside Sim Racing Mad Catz Pro Racing Wheel First Look
Darin Gangi of Inside Sim Racing presents his first look at the Mad Catz Pro Racing Force Feedback wheel and pedal set for the XBox One. In this video Darin unboxes the Mad Catz Pro Racing wheel and has a detailed look at all the parts that came with the unit. Inside Sim Racing will also publish an in depth review testing the wheel using Forza Motorsport 5.
With the Pro Racing Force Feedback wheel, Mad Catz introduces its own quick release system. This probably means that we will see more wheel rims appear for the Pro Racing wheel. the wheel is switchable between 270 and 900 degrees of lock-to-lock rotation. You can adjust the steering wheel’s rake angle to one of four settings, ranging from zero to 15 degrees. The pedals’ spacing can be set to nine different lateral positions, and they’re also height adjustable to offer a choice of upright or reclined configurations. Not a bad set of features for a $399 wheel and pedals.
On the other hand, while this wheel is marketed as a “Pro wheel”, it does look to be aimed at anyone except the more demanding sim racer. The wheel will only work on the Xbox-One. With a detachable lap rests and most parts made out of plastic, it does not strike us as something we would purchase when looking for a high end steering solution. Whats your view on plastic wheel and lap rests for force feedback wheels?
