iRacing 2016 Global Mazda MX-5 Cup car – In-game screens and video
Today, iRacing will release the 2016 Global Mazda MX-5 Cup car for the iRacing Online Racing Simulation.
The current iRacing Mazda MX5 Championship is one of the most popular Series on the iRacing service, and will surely continue to be with this new and highly updated version of the light, nimble, fun and reliable Japanese legendary two-seater.
The fourth-generation of the Mazda MX-5 Cup has been in development throughout 2015 in partnership with Mazda Motorsports. When released it will replace the current MX-5 in the iRacing Mazda MX-5 Cup series, including the Mazda Cup, Advanced Mazda Cup, and the Production Car Challenge. The 2016 Mazda MX5 will be free of charge for all iRacing members from Rookies and up.
For those who can not wait to have a look, iRacing released a video with plenty of in-game footage. In the video, Senior vehicle Dynamics Engineer Eric Hudec and Mazda Factory Driver Tom Long share some of their experiences and details about their part in the development of the virtual Mazda MX-5 Cup car or Miata as it is called in the States.
The turn-key, ready-to-race 2016 MX-5 Cup car is powered by a Mazda SKYACTIV-G 2.0L four-cylinder engine that delivers 155 plus hp. All that power is delivered to the rear wheels by a manual 6-speed transmission.
