iRacing – 2017 Dallara P217 LMP2 – New In-game Video and Release Info
The past few weeks iRacing already teased us with a few sneak peek screenshots of the 2017 Dallara P217 LMP2 which will soon be available for the iRacing online racing service.
Two days ago, iRacing shared the first teaser video, showcasing the upcoming LMP2 car in action at the virtual Belle Isle street circuit in Detroit, Michigan. Now iRacing is back with a second in-game video of the Dallara P217. This time we can check out the view and sound in the cockpit.
We said it before, and we say it again. Pure prototype awesomeness in sound and vision.
iRacing also confirmed that the 2017 Dallara P217 LMP2 will become available together with the upcoming new Season 4 build of the iRacing online racing service in September.
The Dallara P217 is a Le Mans Prototype racing car built by the Italian Dallara Automobili company, complying with 2017/2020 FIA/ACO regulations for the Le Mans Prototype LMP2 class.
It currently is active in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the European Le Mans Series. Gibson Technology is the exclusive engine supplier. Therefore, all the LMP2 cars are powered by a Gibson 4.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine, producing around 600 bhp.
In the USA, a Daytona Prototype International variant of the car has been developed in partnership with General Motors, under the Cadillac brand, meeting the regulations for the Le Mans Prototype 2 Class of the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.
The American Daytona Prototype International class (DPi) cars are based on the 2017 LMP2 rules but are allowed to feature custom bodywork and road car manufacturer engines.
