Another year has passed. 2020 was a great year for sim racing, and with it an awesome year for the iRacing online racing service.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, many people turned to home entertainment and eSports during periods of self-isolation. With real world races cancelled all over the world, many racing promoters started organizing virtual races featuring top drivers and announcers from the real racing world. This had a massive effect on the worldwide popularity of sim racing in general, and also hugely increased the member count of the iRacing online racing service iRacing.
Despite the love/hate relationship that some community members have with this racing title, it is safe to say iRacing is now the biggest and most successful racing simulation system in the history of the hobby.
In their latest official video, iRacing is highlighting this year’s added content and features, and they look back at some of the interesting online racing moments that defined the iRacing service in 2020.
