iRacing Aston Martin DBR9 GT1 Final Render

Back in September of 2014 iRacing announced that the British Aston Martin Racing brand would be joining iRacing. The original press release hinted that a laser scanned version of the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 racer and the Aston Martin DBR9 LMGT1 were in the works.

Today iRacing published the final render of the 2008 Le Mans spec Aston Martin DBR9 GT1 that will soon become part of the online racing platform.

The Aston Martin DBR9 GT1 racer debuted in 2005 and would be actively raced until the last season of the GT1 class in 2011. In 2007 and 2008 the AMR works team took the Le Mans 24 Hours LMGT1 class victory with the Aston Martin DBR9 GT1. The DBR9 GT1 was powered by a natural aspirated all aluminium 6 liter, DOHC, 48 valve V12 engine that delivered 600 bhp.

iRacing’s Tony Gardner commented that he was messing around with the highest detail in-game test model in a test environment. At this time the current WIP model is still missing all the textures. No release date is known, but when ready, the Aston Martin GT1 will most probably race in a series with the iRacing Corvette C6R GT1 since this is the only car available in the same class.

While the AMR GTLM is a beautiful car to add to the iRacing content, we believe that the majority of the iRacing members will be on the lookout for the announced Aston Martin Vantage GT3 racer, since that one will fit in the very popular iRacing GT3 Series.
