As already hinted in its May 2024 development update, iRacing has now confirmed that the Ford Mustang GT3 will be making its debut on the online racing service on June 3rd.
Iracing stated that two new American-based GT3 cars would be added alongside the season 3 build. While not yet confirmed, it seems that the second car will be the Chevrolet Corvette GT3. I will keep you posted when more details are shared.
The Ford Mustang GT3 is a race car built for the FIA GT3 competition series. It’s based on the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse model and made its debut in the 2024 Rolex 24 at Daytona. The Mustang GT3 is powered by a 5.4-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine based on the Coyote engine, developed collaboratively by Ford Performance and M-Sport.
The Mustang GT3 is currently being raced as a two-car factory effort by Multimatic Motorsports in the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Built with customer racing teams in mind, the Mustang GT3 is designed to be easy to maintain and race, making it a relatively affordable option.
