The iRacing 2023 Season 3 build introduced a nice list of new content, and upgrades for the 2023 Season 3 starting on June 12th. The update contained 3 new cars and two new tracks. One of the tracks was the Spanish MotorLand Aragón circuit, which features no less than 7 configs. Let’s have a look.
Ciudad del Motor de Aragón is a racing circuit situated in located in Alcañiz, Teruel, Spain. While this track is frequently used for car races, it’s also a well-known track in the Motorcycle racing world, as both the MotoGP and Superbike championships have held races on the circuit.
The 5.344 km (3.321-mile) Grand Prix circuit at Aragón was designed by the well-known German track designer Hermann Tilke and the British Foster & Partners company. The build started in late 2015 and was completed in July 2009.
The circuit features a mix of long sweeping corners and slower, tighter curves, and noticeable elevation changes. it boasts 18 turns, as well as two major straightaways. One featuring the start-finish line, and one after the 90-degree Turn 15. The length of the latter depends on the configuration; for cars, it heads toward a sharp hairpin for Turn 16, while the motorcycle layout skips this section for a more gradual Turn 16 that sweeps directly into the front stretch. Aragón also boasts a smaller National layout that dives into the infield after Turn 2 and brings racers through to the backstretch.
