Recently iRacing teased the first laser-scan 3D scene of the Circuit of Jerez, confirming that the famous Spanish racing venue would become part of the iRacing track portfolio in the near future. Around the same time, they also revealed the first in-game screenshot of the upcoming Formula 1600 open-wheeler.
Now the iRacing development team takes us behind the scenes for a work-in-progress preview video of both the Ray Race Cars Formula Ford 1600 and the Jerez circuit although in temporary laser scan format.
iRacing did not yet share a release schedule.
The Circuito de Jerez, also known as Circuit of Jerez, is a motorsport race track located in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. It is used for various motorsport events, including Formula One testing, MotoGP, and World Superbike races. The track is 4.428 km (2.751 miles) long and has a capacity of 120,000 spectators.
Since the early 1960s, the Formula Ford, also known as the F1600 and Formula F, this entry-level class open-wheeler car has been a popular choice for both amateur and professional drivers around the world.
The British Formula Ford Championship and the SCCA Formula Ford series in the United States are two prime examples of popular racing series utilizing the Formula Ford.
The vehicles are powered by 1.6-liter Ford engines and are designed to be lightweight, nimble, and affordable. The Formula Ford comes in different specs as series are allowed the freedom of chassis design, engine build, and numerous technical items of specification on the car.
