iRacing – paint your wheels
With the new build release of iRacing closing in, the development staff is starting to publish sneak previews of whats to come. One of the graphical new features will be the ability to paint your wheels. That means that not only will you be able to select the color, but you will also be presented with the choice of giving them a matte or chrome finish.
As the provided screenshot on the bottom of this page will show you, painting of wheels will be done on the website in the customize cars section. This feature will certainly add to the overall atmosphere on the track, and users of custom skins will be able to match their creations to the real world examples. All in all, a good feature. However, lets hope the overall grid view will not look as a circus with a variation of bright and vivid colors. It might be cool, but can also spoil the look of the field. The menu shot also shows us the BMW Z4 GT3 using Michelin tires. Its not sure the tire will be featured in-game.
Iracing.com also released the 2014 Season 2 Schedule. In this schedule you ca already see that the MMW Z4 GT3 car will be joining the GT3 Series. Further more the Street Stock and Global Challenge Series are marked as a fixed setup series. Tony Gardner stated that the long awaited driver swaps will not be released in the coming build. Also, the Toyota Camry Gen-6 car could be released, but at this time that is not confirmed. The Lucas Oil Raceway and the Circuit of Americas (COTA) will be released together with next weeks build. iRacing members can download the 2014 Season 2 Schedule here
