Back in July, iRacing’s Senior VP and Executive Producer Greg Hill confirmed that an updated Watkins Glen International track was laser-scanned and in development.
Now iRacing shared the first two in-game screenshots of the update and confirmed that the re-scanned track will become available as part of the upcoming December build.
Watkins Glen International is an American motor road course located in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York. The track commonly nicknamed “The Glen” has been entertaining racing fans since 1948. NASCAR, IndyCar, Formula One, Can-Am, and every major sports car series have all raced at the Glen over the years.
The venue hosted the FIA Formula One World Championship for twenty seasons, from 1961 until 1980. Watkins Glen would also be the last purpose-built race circuit to host the United States Grand Prix until the completion of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Nowadays, “The Glen” hosts the NASCAR and many top professional and amateur sports car races as well as a major vintage race meet.
