KartSim becomes KartKraft

After a new round of funding, Australian studio Black Delta, lead by CEO Zach Griffin announced the new kart racing game/Simulator called KartKraft.

Kart fans will undoubtedly know that Zach Griffin started this project a few years ago when it was still called KartSim. Since then, the title is often referred to as vaporware. During the years, development seemed to completely stop at random timeframes. Seven months ago, Zach Griffin launched the Black Delta studio based in Melbourne, Australia and gathered a team of developers to continue his KartSim project using the new KartKraft name.

The Unreal Engine 4 powered KartKraft will most probably be released as a Steam Early Access title during the 4th quarter of 2015 and will launch with full Oculus Rift support. At this year’s GamesCom Expo, KartKraft was introduced using a full-size racing kart rigged up as a 6-DOF motion simulator and Oculus Rift Dk2 VR headset.

The company’s CEO, Zach Griffin, said of the last year’s events “What an incredible journey it’s been! In 2005, I wrote the first prototype for KartKraft. After 10 years and what started as a university project in Melbourne, Australia, and now to debut the game at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany; it doesn’t get much better than this. Being so fortunate to combine my passions for gaming and racing karts, the vision for KartKraft far exceeded what one man could ever accomplish. Seven months since we launched the studio to rebuild KartKraft from the ground up, we can’t wait to show what the Black Delta team has been working on.”
