Logitech G29 – Real or Hoax?

The Logitech G25/G27 wheel must have been one of the most successful Force Feedback wheels ever produced for the Sim Racing and Race Gaming community. While the community has been speculating about a replacement for the aging G27, Logitech always hinted that they would cut back on gaming hardware and stop designing new products. Their efforts would be focussed at the mobile products.

Console news website Maxconsole.com now published a photo of what is claimed to be a test version of a Logitech G29 that will become the follow up of the G27. The site also posted a copy of the so-called certification statement, proving that the product is authentic.

While Logitech might have changed its policy towards new products, we have a serious doubt that this wheel represent Logitech’s next Force feedback wheel. The published photo looks genuine enough, but it strikes us as weird that after all these years it still contains parts of the old and trusty Logitech DFGT console wheel. Also the fact that the certificate published is by coincidence Russian does not inspire confidence. Also, the base of the unit looks to be unchanged from the G27 version. Logitech themselves did not yet comment on this so called leak.

It would be nice to see a new Logitech Force Feedback wheel appear, but we don’t think this one is it. That said, we can always be wrong.
