Mixed Reality – iRacing Blancpain GT3 Series at Watkins Glen

VR enthusiast Marcel Pfister has published a new “Mixed Reality” video featuring an online iRacing GT3 race.

For this talk & drive session, Marcel strapped on his Oculus Rift CV1 headset and signed in for an online iRacing Blancpain GT3 Series race. He is driving the Audi R8 GT3 at the Watkins Glen track.  As usual, Marcel captures both the Oculus Rift screen and his real steering wheel whereafter he blends the two seamlessly by use of a green-screen.

Marcel’s recording technique is only a visual representation of the lap, and Marcel does not see his own hands or steering wheel during the actual run. Nevertheless, it gives us a good idea how amazing sim racing will become once Augmented Reality becomes a fact.
