Miami Florida-based Game developer, publisher, and eSports ecosystem provider Motorsport Games Inc. announced that they have agreed on a partnership with Indycar which will let them create and distribute officially licensed Indycar video games, with a debut title expected to launch in 2023 on Xbox and PlayStation consoles and PC.
For many, this may not come as a surprise, as Motorsport Games Inc was clearly on the prowl and recently acquired the assets and the business of KartKraft, the highly acclaimed PC kart racing simulator from the Australian developer Black Delta. The publisher also successfully completed the acquisition of Studio 397, developers of the rFactor 2 racing simulator, and took ownership of Developer Digital Tales USA and with it, its upcoming new official Superbike mobile game.
Needless to say, besides developers, you also need licenses to create market appealing games. So for Motorsport Games, the hunt is on.
Besides the NASCAR and official Superbike game license, Motorsport Games has also cached on the success of the Le Mans Esports Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual Esport Event and managed to secure a Joint Venture with the Automobile Club de l’Ouest resulting in a Ten Year Exclusive License. In 2020, Motorsport Games also confirmed they acquired a gaming license to create an official British Touring Car Championship Racing Game.
Alongside handling the distribution and development of new games, Motorsport Games is also an award-winning esports partner for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Formula E, BTCC, the FIA World Rallycross Championship, and the eNASCAR Heat Pro League, among others.
Today, Motorsport Games inc. confirmed that they have established an official partnership with North America’s premier open-wheel racing series, and with it, the opportunity to create a brand new franchise that grants them the right to develop and distribute a series of official NTT Indycar Series games. The first official Indycar title is expected to launch in 2023 on Xbox, PlayStation consoles, and PC.
In addition to the new game, an NTT Indycar Series eSports competition featuring potential driver participation and collaborations could begin as early as this year. Details will be announced at a later date.
