Back in October, the American Publisher and eSports ecosystem provider Motorsport Games Inc. rebooted the NASCAR video game franchise, releasing NASCAR 21: Ignition on Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox One, and PC.
The simulation is powered by Unreal Engine and Studio 397’s highly-acclaimed rFactor physics engine, aiming to give users a more authentic driving experience, immersive gameplay, dynamic AI, and stunning visuals.
The game features the official drivers, teams, and tracks from the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series, including broadcast quality pre-race build-up and post-race replays. All broadcast voice-over work is provided by MRN Radio, the Voice of NASCAR. Drivers have been face-scanned into the game to provide their realistic representations, with heightened attention to detail regarding tracks, grandstands, and pit experiences.
Now Motorsport Games released the first official DLC for NASCAR 21: Ignition. The Throwback DLC Pack lets you drive as the legendary NASCAR Champion Darrell Waltrip with access to his classic Western Auto paint scheme.
Darrell Lee Waltrip is an American motorsports analyst, author, former national television broadcaster, and stock car driver. He raced from 1972 to 2000 in the former NASCAR Winston Cup Series, most notably driving the No. 17 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports. Waltrip is a three-time Cup Series champion. (1981, 1982, and 1985)
At the launch of the game, Motorsport Games announced that four legendary NASCAR drivers would be featured in the game. At release, the first spot was taken by the Champion’s Edition Cover Driver Bill Elliott. NASCAR Champion Darrell Waltrip is the second legendary name to pop up in the game. Two more to go, each as part of either the upcoming Patriotic or Playoff DLC packs.
Besides the Darrell Waltrip themed content, the pack also includes over 80 paint schemes as featured in the 2021 NASCAR Throwback event held at Darlington Raceway earlier this year.
