New Assetto Corsa Mixed Reality video and Greenscreen Tutorial
A while ago, VR technology fan Marcel Pfister published his popular”Assetto Corsa Mixed Reality” video. He creatively used his Oculus Rift VR headset and a greenscreen to blend in the virtual with the real world, resulting in a spectacular video. We are now 10 days later and the YouTube video has reached nearly 700.000 views and 681 comments. Its a rare sight to see such numbers appear concerning a sim racing related video.
In his newest “Assetto Corsa Mixed Reality” video Marcel Pfister takes the RUF Yellowbird for a lap around the Nurburgring Nordschleife Tourist layout. By popular demand, Marcel also created a tutorial video showing you how to do your own Mixed Reality Videos.
While currently, VR headsets are still lacking in the resolution department and are priced a little high to be interesting for the masses, it is clear that the in the very near future the technical development and pricing of VR hardware will get us all excited. Whether it will revolutionize sim racing as we know it, has to be seen, but we are pretty sure VR is here to stay.
FAQ
- No, i can´t see my hands or the steering wheel while playing, it´s done in video editing.
- The green dot comes from unwarping the Rift video, I´m sorry for that, but i couldn´t get rid of it.
- The poor resolution is because i record with 1080p but then have to crop the picture down the view of one eye in 16:9 so iIget less than 720p. This will get better as soon as i get the final verion of the Rift or the Vive.
