New Thrustmaster Mystery Formula Wheel Teaser

Thrustmaster

Gaming Peripheral manufacturer Thrustmaster shared a new teaser video revealing some more product details, features, and the release date of the upcoming new Thrustmaster Formula wheel rim.

Back in December 2020, peripheral manufacturer Thrustmaster teased a picture of a new upcoming sim racing wheel or wheel rim via its social media channels.

The original teaser shot did not reveal any details regarding the product, but clearly outlined the shape of a formula/endurance style racing wheel. The picture seemed to reveal an open side grip design, thumb controlled rotary encoders, thumb push buttons, and with some imagination, you could see what looked like split paddle shifters which could indicate the wheel also features wheel-mounted clutch paddles. Furthermore, the teaser post included the number 2021, which is most likely the release schedule. Needless to say, this was all speculation on my part.

After almost a month of silence, Thrustmaster now shared a video revealing some more details and features of the upcoming product.

The new video shows us an interesting feature we could not yet see in the original teaser picture. The mystery wheel features a relatively large telemetry LCD screen and LED rev-meter. Also, the screen content seems to reveal an F1 derived wheel theme, as the display clearly shows us DRS and ERS data settings.

As Thrustmaster is an official Ferrari license partner, it would not come as a surprise if this wheel would be a follow-up for the original Thrustmaster Ferrari F1 Wheel Add-on which was an officially licensed full-size replica of the 2011 Ferrari F1 racing wheel rim for use with the Thrustmaster T500, T300, and TX wheelbases.

While Thrustmaster did not yet share the specs, price, or name of the product, they did reveal that April 20th, 2021 will be the release date.

I will keep you posted when more news becomes available.
