Nick Catsburg – Race preperation using iRacing
European Motorsport fans will know him as one of the best professional racing drivers out there while long term Sim community members will know him as a very fast and passionate sim racer.
We are talking about 27-year-old Dutch racing driver Nick Catsburg. Nick started by competing in single-seater racing before he became the European Megane Trophy Champion in 2010 and continued racing in prestigious GT series such as the Blancpain Endurance Series, the famous VLN and many more.
Nick is also a valued test driver for various international teams and brands such as JRM and Renault Sport Technologies. In 2015 Nick Catsburg is the official Reiter Engineering driver in the Bancpain GT Series and Pirelli World Challenge, while also taking part in the Nürburgring 24 and VLN races for Marc VDS Racing Team.
Nick is able to combine both passions. This year he is competing in the American Pirelli World Challenge driving the Reiter Engineering Gallardo GT3. This weekend Nick will compete in round 4 of the Pirelli World Challenge at Barber Motorsports Park. To get prepared, and create a mind map of the track, Nick fires up iRacing to put in the practice laps.
Lately, Nicky Catsburg also joined the famed “Team Redline” Sim Racing team where he partners up with famous names such as Greger Huttu, Atze Kerkhof and fellow racing driver Richie Stanaway. We often discussed the purpose of real world racing drivers promoting Sim Racing. In this case its clear and commonly known that Nick Catsburg always had a soft spot for Sim Racing.
Its nice to see that the real and virtual world do merge occasionally.
