It’s a program that invites car manufacturers to create their own virtual concept cars specifically for the Gran Turismo game. These concept cars are designed to showcase the brands’ visions for the future of automotive design and technology.
The concept cars are developed by the automakers’ design teams and are often inspired by their current production models, while also incorporating elements of futuristic design and cutting-edge technology. Once the cars are designed, they are then rendered and implemented into the Gran Turismo game, allowing players to experience them virtually.
Vision Gran Turismo has been a popular feature of the Gran Turismo series since its inception in 2013. The program has attracted a wide range of automakers, from established brands like Porsche, Toyota, and Bugatti to more niche manufacturers like Nissan, Mazda, and Hyundai. Each car brings something unique to the game, offering players a glimpse into the future of automotive design and performance.
In a nutshell… 10 years ago Kazunori Yamauchi asked car manufacturers the following: “Would you be willing to design your rendition of Gran Turismo for us?” The answer was yes, and resulted in some of the most stunning car designs to date. As of today, December 9, 2023, a total of 38 Vision Gran Turismo concept cars have been released for the Gran Turismo video game series, with new models from Ford, GM Design, Jordan, Nike, and Tesla Motors in the works.
